One of the key starting materials used in the chemical industry, Hydrogen (H2)is a fundamental building block for the manufacture of ammonia, and hence fertilizers, and of methanol, used in the manufacture of many polymers.
Hydrogen is also used by industries for the refining of petroleum, treating metals, and processing foods.
About 55% of the hydrogen around the world goes to ammonia production; 25% is used in refining petroleum and about 10% is used to produce methanol.
Clean hydrogen is touted as the future fuel of the world, promising to deliver an abundance of carbon-neutral energy by 2030.It will power long haul freight vehicles, airplanes, steel production and domestic heating.
